Spark Power is both passionate and committed to protecting the safety of our employees, contractors, visitors, and guests across all our subsidiaries.

Leading Edge Safety Program

At Spark Power Corp, we are committed to the health and safety of our employees and all who are involved in our projects. Protection of employees from injury and/or keeping employees in good health is an ongoing objective of our business. We are dedicated to achieving an incident-free workplace through leadership, alignment, integration, performance, and corporate citizenship.

With more than 50 years of combined work experience in the industry and safety, Spark Power’s health, safety, and environment department is leading the industry in innovative ways to promote a safety-driven culture within the organization.

Spark Power provides a variety of internal and outsourced in-depth training programs to employees, specific to their work tasks. These training programs are designed to give our employees the knowledge, skills, and expertise they require to complete their work both efficiently and safely.

We hold all levels of management accountable for providing a safe work environment as well as enforcing safe work practices and procedures. All employees, as well as contractors, visitors, and guests are expected to work safely and in accordance with the OHSA, its regulations, and all other governing provincial and federal legislation, as required.

Safety Management System

Spark Power utilizes an online safety system that centralizes all health and safety components into one user-friendly system, making safety accessible to all our employees 24 hours a day, regardless of location. Inspections, meetings, hazards, incidents, near misses, and hazard assessments are all accessible to our workers through a computer and/or an easy-to-use app.

Safety Prequalifiers

We are proud to be enrolled in safety prequalifiers such as ISNetworld, Avetta, Browz, Contractor Compliance, and many others. These systems allow our customers to breathe easier knowing that our health and safety program meets or exceeds not only the legislative requirements, but their health and safety programs as well.

Supporting Health & Safety

Spark Power supports the work of the Joint Health and Safety Committees (JHSC) and worker representatives within all of the Spark Power Corp. subsidiaries. Our JHSCs ensure all health and safety concerns are brought into the open, bringing people of different skills and experience together to solve problems, mitigate re-occurrence, discuss solutions as well as improve communications within our workplace.

We believe working together on a foundation of commitment, enthusiasm, and effort will integrate safety into all areas of our operations. Through open communication, co-operation, commitment, and mutual respect we will achieve a workplace free of hazards, injuries, and/or occupational illness.

Spark Power Corp and COR™

The Certificate of Recognition (COR™) is a nationally recognized occupational health and safety (OHS) standard. It provides employers with an effective tool to assess their health and safety management system.

COR™ is aimed at driving positive workplace behavior and practices that lead to improved performance. It is currently being used across Canada and is a prequalification requirement for many contractors working in and out of the province and on public and private sector projects.

COR™ is aimed at driving positive workplace behaviour and practices that lead to improved performance. This is one of the many reasons why Spark Power’s High Voltage divisions are currently in the process of becoming COR™ certified in Ontario. In preparation of a mid 2019 Certification date, our entire Spark safety team has achieved COR™ Internal Auditor accreditations through IHSA in Ontario. Spark Power intends to become COR™ certified in all of our working provinces spanning from east to west coast. By achieving COR™, Spark Power will be able to continue expanding our business opportunities and working partnerships not only in Ontario, but across Canada, while working towards zero incidents.
