Andrew Clark and Jason Sparaga, Co-CEO’s of Spark Power Corp (“Spark Power” or the “Company”) are pleased to announce that former S&P/TSX top 100 executive, Joseph Quarin, has joined the Spark Power Corp Advisory Board.

After joining Progressive Waste Solutions’ (“Progressive”) inaugural leadership team in 2000, Joe was an integral part of the company’s growth and success over the following fifteen years. The Company’s revenues grew from C$130 million to C$2.6 billion through a combination of organic growth and strategic acquisitions, with the Canadian business exceeding C$800 million in revenues and delivering the highest margins in the industry. Progressive had over 7,000 employees at the end of 2015.  He retired in January 2016 as President and Chief Executive Officer following the US$4.8 billion reverse-merger announcement with Waste Connections Inc. The transaction creates a company with proforma revenues of US$4 billion and market capitalization of more than US$11 billion.

Joe was a key architect in establishing the corporate office, finance team and reporting process, as well as developing and executing Progressive’s 2014 strategic plan incorporating various new initiatives. In 2002, Joe assumed the role of Chief Financial Officer when the company went public as an income trust, and he led a transformative deal which tripled the company’s size to enter the U.S. market in 2005. Joe transitioned to an operating role in 2005 and remained active in the Company’s conversion out of the income trust structure in 2008, as well as Progressive’s listing on the NYSE in 2009. Joe was appointed Chief Executive Officer in January 2012.

“We are extremely fortunate to add Joseph Quarin to the Advisory Board,” said Sparaga. “He brings a very successful growth and acquisition track record, making him a great resource for the Spark management team.”

“We are looking forward to leveraging Joe’s experiences and wisdom in creating a growth culture and feel there are many parallels between the waste management industry in the 2000’s and the power and energy sector today,” he continued.

Joe joins a highly-accomplished group of professionals on the Advisory Board who include: The Honorable Howard I. Wetston, Q.C., Larry D. Taylor, Daniel Peloquin, Kurt A. Strobele, Gord Reynolds, Ron Dizy and Peter F. Clark.  Full bios of all Advisory Board Members are available here.
