Jason Sparaga Joins the OEB’s Advisory Committee on Innovation

(Toronto, ON) – We are pleased to announce that our Co-Founder, Co-CEO and COO Jason Sparaga has joined the “Advisory Committee on Innovation” at the Ontario Energy Board (OEB).

The Advisory Committee on Innovation works to assist the Ontario Energy Board in its understanding of key action items and how to better set priorities so we can better leverage and enable innovation within the regulated utilities – all of which are outlined in the following five-year strategic blueprint: https://www.oeb.ca/sites/default/files/OEB-Strategic-Blueprint-2017-2022-E.pdf

As a Committee member, Jason will collaborate with other advisors, focusing on identifying actions in which regulators can take to support “cost-effective innovation, grid modernization and consumer choice”[1], ultimately assisting with the policy development processes. The Advisory Committee will also play an essential role in the application and implementation of the Long Term Energy Plan (LTEP), in areas such as cost effective modernization, distributed energy resources and encouraging a culture of innovation.

“I am pleased to be part of such an experienced and influential group of individuals,” says Sparaga.  “The Ontario Energy Board is striving to ensure that Ontario’s energy system is sustainable, affordable and reliable, today – and for the long term – while protecting the rights of the consumers and I strongly believe that this Committee will be successful in providing tangible concepts and solutions that will help the OEB to adapt to The Future of Power within Ontario.”
