Leading Renewable Developer, Jay Wilgar Joins Spark Power: Key Addition Bolsters Canadian Power and Energy Specialists’ Development Capabilities
Jason Sparaga, Co-CEO of Spark Power Corp, announced today that leading renewable energy developer, Jay Wilgar has joined the Company as Partner to help drive development activity at the Canadian renewable energy and power firm.
“Jay is well-known in Canadian and International renewable energy circles,” said Sparaga. “He has a reputation as an innovator and a doer and we’re pleased to welcome him to the Spark Power team,” he added.
Jay founded renewable development firm, AIM PowerGen Corporation (“AIM”) in 2001. AIM, along with successor companies, developed, built, and acquired more than 550 megawatts of renewable energy projects with a combined value of $2.5 billion.
In 2009, AIM was acquired by global renewable power firm, International Power Canada (IPR-GDF Suez). Jay remained with IPR-GDF Suez for several years in senior roles, continuing to grow and integrate AIM’s portfolio of renewable assets. In addition to his renewable energy experience, Jay has launched several companies in other industries and serves as a director on several boards.
Wilgar will be an integral part of Spark Power’s development arm which provides end-to-end planning, development, financing, construction management and business management solutions for projects ranging from 10kW to 10MW plus utility scale projects.
