People of Spark: Ann McDougall

At Spark Power, we firmly believe that our talented and passionate employees are what make our organization so special. This series will highlight one individual per month, showcasing the personality and professionalism of Spark. Meet Ann McDougall, Graphic Designer for Bullfrog Power, Spark Power’s sustainability brand.
.

  • What is a project you have worked on that stands out to you?
I had the opportunity to do a full refresh of the Bullfrog Power brand, which I really enjoyed. The project involved rethinking our brand colours, imagery, fonts, and how we use logos. In addition to updating the brand to fit Bullfrog’s business today and in the future, I had to consider the larger Spark brand, and how Bullfrog could fit within it in a way that is distinct but synergistic. I’m very happy with where we ended up.
  • To you, what makes a good team member?
I think trust and mutual respect is the foundation of a good team. That means trusting colleagues to do their jobs and do them well, but it also factors into how we deal with challenges and mistakes. When we trust that the people we work with support us and want us to do our best, it’s easier to openly discuss setbacks, regroup, and eventually come back stronger. The level of trust in our team is very high, and that’s something I really appreciate.
  • What do you enjoy most about working at Spark Power?
Spark really focuses on employee well-being, from a core focus on safety right through to offering extended mental health benefits and setting up committees to focus on health and well-being and equity and diversity. That sends a strong message about what the organization values, and has far-reaching effects on the quality of our work.
