Joining Spark Power opened the doors to many opportunities, new projects and work. While I have continued to work closely with my branch team and our regional teams, we have been able to work cross-functionally with other technical groups and functions supporting new projects and initiatives. In doing this, I have been able participate in projects that I would have never imagined in my career. It’s amazing to see a crew come together from our Renewables, Engineering, Low and High Voltage groups to accomplish customer projects with the same goal in mind. Safety is the core of our operations. It is our responsibility to ensure we give all of our employees the tools, resources, and training to go home safe every day. I have worked in a union environment in the past, and have zero interest in going back. I have always made more money when I have worked for non-union companies.
We have room for improvement and have made some mistakes for sure, but we have done many, many things right too. We all have worked very hard to build what we have today. New Electric (and Spark Power) has always provided opportunities for growth, with the freedom and flexibility to pursue it. I am angry that with a union we may lose that. I left New years ago but came back because I wanted to be more than just ‘an employee’ and more than just ‘a number’.
